I am not approving of what this guy is doing - and he and anyone else
involved are kidding themselves if they think he isn't essentially with
this other woman. I am just amazed his real wife doesn't outright
stop him or leave. She is just enabling his addiction at this point.
This situation would not have been tolerated in the so-called physical
world.

But this is a definite sign of what the future may really look like: A
virtual world where you can look like anything or anyone you want
to interact with anyone you want any place you want.

People like this guy are already addicted to the virtual world and it
doesn't even look that real - yet. Just wait until we have 3D holography
or a direct mind link ala the Matrix.

A few SF authors like Robert Sawyer have said that another potential
answer to the Fermi Paradox is that advanced ETI are totally immersed
in their own virtual worlds and no longer bother with the outside
universe, thus the reason we don't hear from them or get a visit.

Or maybe we are part of their virtual world....
