I agree, we should go unconventional.
Infect some of the Taliban we have captured with a fairly slow acting but near 100% fatal microbe. One that is easy to transmit, but that we have a cure for. Then we should "accidentally" release them and let them go back to their rat nests to infect fellow Taliban. They seem to stay confined to close quarter areas such as remote villages, tunnels, and caves. Within a year their numbers, support base, and organizational capabilities would be decimated.
