Heck with the starships, give me a Class F shuttlecraft.
The oldest versions in the original series had full interplanetary range, atmospheric landing capability, and could cruise at almost a third of light speed. That tech would give us the solar system, and with plenty of fuel, nearby stars, at least for probes.
