The last thing in the world the Democrats want is any sign of recovery, or even of the recession bottoming out, until they can pass this trillion-dollar liberal wishlist.

After that, if the recession continues, it will be "these things will take time to work." They can play that one for months. When the economy starts looking up eventually, they can take credit for it.

The CBO thinks the recession would end this year with no stimulus at all. But the stimulus isn't about the economy. It's about inserting the Federal government into every aspect of what we do to the tune of a trillion dollars of borrowed money.

There will be an easy check to see if I'm right or not. Soon after this bill passes, and whatever other massive spending is following it, you should suddenly begin to see politicians talking about the light at the end of the tunnel, and news articles about this or that economic indicator looking up. A factory will hire a few people, and it will make headlines. Employment statistics will start spinning in different directions, even if the numbers don't change much.
