Origins of the internet

Was the internet originally for military use

LOL! This is a common misconception, Little One :-)

The internet was invented by Al Gore, who at the time led an umbrella group addressing the interests of the pornography industry (Gore conducted the work under his "porn name," Snoopy Conrad). Clearly, their efforts have been spectacularly successful. After the fact, the US military realized that they could use the 'net to keep distributed teams in touch with each other. And, of course, to view porn.

As everyone knows, the technical spin-offs from the porn industry have had a transformative effect on society, introducing such developments as petroleum jelly manufacture and hip replacement surgery.

But porn is a giver, not a taker, so industry leaders put into place a cover story, with which they've tried to shift credit for a great many things to the military, most notably the internet and Phalanx radar-guided gattling gun (in appreciation for the latter, the Navy began using the term "seamen").

If you wish, for whatever reason, to examine the covery story in detail, you can look here and here. It's worth a smile.

Glad I could help.
