re: Contractor Concentration
There is a military/industrial complex, a tightly interconnected system of large military contractors and the government. Small businesses pick up stuff around the edges, but not much of it. It gets the job done, but few people would say that it does so with the maximum efficiency or the lowest cost.
And yet we're told that the way to create a low-cost, effective health care system is to turn it into a health care/industrial complex. Turning major medical and pharmaceutical corporations into the equivalent of Lockheed isn't going to make things cheaper.
