"This is not your father's country anymore. And we had better all start getting used to it."

NEW YORK (CNN) -- "I think this time, it's different. I have this uneasy feeling our country is in the process of changing forever, and not necessarily for the better -- unless our perspective changes with it."

I couldn't agree more. I believe part of my frustration involves wanting what were different days. Those times when men knew shame, when Sherman Adams resigned because he improperly accepted a lobbyist's gift. The gradual degradation of our expectations of the people who run the country has become not so gradual any more.

I think Bill Clinton set up the country for the excesses of the Bush Administration. There is no doubt as to the facts. Bill got a blow job from a female federal intern in the Oval Office and lied about it.

Bill has the right to blow jobs. No question. But not from an employee, a much younger employee, not on company time and not on company property. And didn't have the right to lie about it.

He should have resigned, and failing that, been fired, a disgraced man. Instead of that he's at the head of many tables.

These are different times, the US is a different country from my youth, and the kids growing up today believe the new morality is normal. And I suppose it is.

There used to be official pronouncements to save money. Now our economy is heavily dependent upon people spending everything they can get their hands on as fast as they can. That's a big switch.

And in the world, the US will have a different role.

Time to stop mourning the losses of a bygone age and accept the new US.
