Flame

I think it's obvious now

Part of the reason I needle Tom is because, when challenged, he pulls out all the stops and shows people exactly what his true intentions are. Once he becomes a bit riled, he goes into full bore neocon talking point mode with volume that rivals full-time journalists. Every resource and political gotcha (no matter how divisive) that the talking heads put out is utilized which to me shows that he has no intention of building a better country but instead simply wants to tear it down to ensure the backlash will give power back to his philosophy.

Any one of us with different political views could easily counter and pick apart nearly all of his rants - if we had the time and no other life. (The only reason I'm posting tonight is that I'm sick and can't do the things I really want to do). Just a few minutes of research or even just a second or two of common sense shows huge holes in nearly everything he posts. Holy shit, the time it must take him to sit at his computer keeping track of every little political nuance and then buzzing around finding the "perfect" counter. The only other people that prolific are full-time bloggers which brings up an interesting point. The person he claims to be has not only a family but a full time job and a supposed hobby of writing novels. Normally those things would take up a good portion of your life as they do in mine. Yet, I can't always be assured that, if I post a link to a story, the first person to respond, and often within minutes, will be our good ole TB. At the same time he's blowing out a full page of crap in response to mine, he's all over the other boards as well posting new things and responding in nearly every other thread.

He also claims he spends a great amount of time interacting on other sites around the internet. I find that just to keep up with a handful of posts on here with no real time in research, I have little time left for the other more meaningful parts of life so there will often be days when I don't even look at this place or any other blog site for that matter. So for him to go into this production mode we're seeing lately, makes one really wonder just who this guy is. He can't be getting any real work done during these periods unless he's just filthy rich and living off the spoils of his investments (which would fit perfectly with the neocon philosophy). Think about the people you know that are self-employed as he claims and how many long hours they must spend toiling in their profession to keep the lights on especially during a weak economy. The folks I know would never have the time it takes to participate so actively on so many bulletin boards.

I think we're being presented a load of crap here. My impression is that Tom is either retired or, if he's as young as he portrays, is independently wealthy. The picture we've been given of a typical middle class California family man with a wife with health problems just doesn't square with some guy having the large number of hours per day that must be spent being this prolific.

At other times when I've brought this up, he's made fun of the idea laughing about how he wishes it were true. It's classic hustler denial mode. Just make it a joke instead of the true outrage and eventual corroboration that would result from someone so often challenged. It's typical Rovian tactics. You don't need the truth. You just need to tell the lie over and over enough times until people get worn down and start to buy it.

Open your eyes folks. Something smells big time here. What possible motivation would some middle class working stiff with his own financial challenges have to be so adamant about looking out for the powerful elite and wealthy of our nation? The evidence is overwhelming that wealth doesn't trickle down. Conservative principles and a desire for some of the social and militaristic ideals the Republicans have is perfectly understandable. I understand where most of the other conservatives on here are coming from and can have reasonable debates based on those differences but Tom comes with the same fervor I hear from people with a stake in keeping the wealthy not only at the top of the heap but so far above that they are immune from any challenges. It's a self-interest thing for them. They themselves have great wealth and fall into that category where they have to actually give back a bit when the pendulum swings a bit to the left. It's pure greed. The only other exception to finding this level of neocon fervor is in the case of religious fundamentalism. All logic seems to go out the window then. I don't think Tom falls into that category.

So enjoy the show. He's definitely energized now, a virtual production line of talking points every day. It'll eventually calm down as the rest of us just get burned out and stop responding. He'll feel empowered then. He's won because his "wisdom" has gone unchallenged. The rest of us will just sit back and laugh.
