Danger mitigation.

Never had a Testarossa. It would need to have a roof lift. ;-)

Sure, I've traveled as fast as a helicopter on the ground, driven in wastes in all sorts of adverse conditions, but it's controlled danger, encountered very rarely. A properly equipped car, with the proper tires, safety equipment and such dangers diminish because the vehicle was truly designed for it. A Testarossa is a flimsy piece of ---- and at 100 mph - you hit something like a pothole or even just get a blowout and you're probably dead. Same with lots of the sports cars sold, even the ones costing several hundred grand. The secret is in serious modifications, because as they come from the factory you wouldn't want to get in an accident at 40 mph, much less over the century mark. Frame modifications, built-in roll cages, professional brakes, harnesses, firewall shielding - the works. Secret agents, generally, don't do car chases. Cops do. Secret agents lojack the bad guys cars, cell phone, clothes - and more - and follow via satellite. Secret agent car chases are movie inventions.

The secret to a long, healthy life is not risk avoidance, it is in controlling your environment and mitigating the risks as you encounter them. A person who flies everyday as a pilot takes a lot more risks than the occasional traveler. A person who flies a small plane takes more chances than the one flying the 747.

Skiing, horseback riding, scuba diving is fine if you mitigate your risks, learn stuff properly and don't take risks, just because of ego. Ego is the real killer. Folks don't want to look chicken, they don't want to seem weak. How many kids each year die in car crashes from street racing - or even the careless and stupid act of sitting in the bed of an open pick up? NO one wants to seem like a sissy or a spoilsport. Everyone seeks approval. They may have a hopped up car, watched Vin Diesel flicks and think that speed is "cool." How many impromptu street light races have ended in disaster? The numbers are hard to count. How many started addictions to narcotics just to save face in front of others? The numbers stagger the calculator. Folks like John Kennedy Jr, who seem to have it all, lose their lives because of what? Not danger, not flying - they lose it to the ultimate betrayer: EGO. They don't listen to the little voice that says, "This is too dangerous...forget it."

Going fast is not a thrill - it's deadly serious business and one has to treat it as such. If one is seeking speed primarily for kicks, one is not destined to last too long. Likewise, if one constantly seeks approval around others one's best destiny is seriously diverted.

If my stories here have glamorized danger, speed and fast cars, etcetera without conveying that proper intelligence, preparation, skill and equipment are the secret to mastering and surviving conflicts then I have poorly served those who read them. The last thing I want to do is inspire someone to take their street car to the limit in the desert just because it is something Tech1 would probably do with Tech7 sitting beside him. It's damn cool obeying speed laws, playing it safe and not letting others' bad driving incite a reaction.

As for the Swiss Alps - I love the Swiss Alps. I love the fact that they never joined the EU and have their own currency. I love Lucerne. I love to have a reason to wear my black, thick wool, Hugo Boss trench coat and thermal underwear.

And as for time traveling babes, they are not dangerous at all - quite the contrary. They are some of the safest women in the galaxy to be around. That's another secret to being safe, namely, working out those regenerating negative past experiences and hanging with folks who also have the ability and skills to work out negative stuff on the fly. That's the real secret to surviving literally anything.

What happens is you alter your own negative experiences with a positively biased mind - and do this realtime. Deja vu, occuring more often, will act as an indicator of these changes in one's "destiny" and keep one in good stead of one's endavors in this regard. The still small voice within can help to make different decisions, have more positive reactions, and cancel out the worst karmic circumstances that would end in injury, disaster or death. But if one does not have those abilities...

...being prepared and hyper-cautious is the next best thing.
