Did it ever occur to you that the Taliban is over there, shooting at Americans OVER THERE? Some people, me for instance, would regard a foreign power occupying my neck of the woods as fair game. They could always go home if they didn't want to be shot at.
And that the Taliban was not involved in 9-11, but that the Saudi Arabians were? Fascinating, huh? Not Iraqis, not Afghans but Saudi Arabians operating with Saudi Arabian money. Go get them, tiger!
And that trying to rid that area of the Taliban is like trying to kill starfish by chopping them up? That the US cannot possibly, ever, in your lifetime or mine rid that area of the Taliban?
Policically, just how badly do you want a complete collapse of Pakistan, a Muslim country with many, many factions, none of whom care for the US? Except for the few who have been purchased by the CIA, and are therefore by definition for sale.
And they have nuclear weapons stacked around here and there. For which there is a ready market. If the ISI smuggled a few to the Taliban, just sort of looked the other way, how badly would you want to attack Pakistan?
If you're going to advocate attacking everyone who doesn't like the US wherever they are be honest about it. And then kiss your kids goodbye. And mine.
Or find another way to win a guerilla war.
But compounding arrogance upon stupidity and thinking we have the right to shoot everyone who looks cross-eyed at us is childish. John Wayne. Sometimes it's necessary to think outside the box which is in the hole dug in the quicksand. Or repeat every mistake ever made for fighting a guerilla war on their home field with a conventional army. They certainly have the "12th man", the home field advantage.
