You have arrived at a point where the Right now controls the House, Senate and Presidency, as well as the state legislatures and governorships. You have suborned the electoral process itself. You have your own press and a fawning following, desperate to regain the economic advantages unrestrained capitalism has pissed away in its search for short-term gain. You will soon have the courts stacked with your flunkies, and you are well on your way to either dismantling or forcibly occupying all the cabinet positions and government agencies and non-governmental institutions that are meant to administer public life and protect us from corporate bullies and small town thugs.

And now that you have total victory within sight, the drooling cretin your side has managed to elect as Commander-in-Chief is threatening to throw it all away by collaborating (either unwittingly or deliberately) with a universally recognized enemy of freedom and peace in the world. This collaboration even is starting to become clear to your own political allies, and if that fear spreads to any more on the Right, it can only undermine that hegemony. OF COURSE, you must stop at nothing to ensure this story is cast into doubt. You will invoke any bogeyman in your pantheon of villains to see to it that this story is seen as
a vicious smear against your heroic standard bearer. The fact you may personally despise your champion is irrelevant. Right now, he's the only one you've got. You feel obligated to help maintain him in place by attacking the legitimacy of every critic and questioner.

That is why it is so important that you question and discredit even the slightest information or criticism that might possibly cast any doubt or place any obstacle to this grim future of enterprise and opportunity you are so desperately trying to foist on the rest of us. You are transparent. We know your MO. We've been watching you do it for years now. It doesn't work any more.

And you almost got away with it. You may see yourself as slick and subtle, but that snarky one-liner "Propaganda has many sources." so strategically placed after the catalog of all the evil origins, movers and meddlers behind this story, reveals the hidden card up your sleeve. You gave yourself away, Tom, you just couldn't resist the little zinger, the Parthian shot, at the end. You are just like my cousin, Bolshie Bob; desperately trying to smooth the way for your ideological utopia, and furious when anyone sees through your clumsy efforts and points it out to you.

PS. And kudos to RL for revealing this when it almost slipped by me. It finally made me realize why some factions on the Right are so determined to poo-pooh this Putin connection to the Trump campaign, and others so determined to follow it up. Even if it is highly exaggerated, or even non-existent, it represents a departure from Republican principles that, if it persists, poses an existential threat to the Trump regime.

I think its all starting to make sense.
