One of my favorite movies! What makes a con successful is when the mark doesn't know they've been taken. Another variant is when the mark is too embarrassed or afraid to do anything about it or even admit it.
I am tired of the Democratic Party playing softball. But I do think that if you are trying to convince someone that they have been conned, and if you start by insulting them, you'll never convince them.
At least this is what I try to do with family and friends that got conned last year.
And no, facts don't matter. It turns out if you just give facts, it just hardens their own view.
What works is the story. The parable. The framing. And the conservatives figured this out years ago and have employed it with devastating results.
