"The findings suggest that government policies and programs that aim to reduce the income-performance gap should consider the stress children experience at home.
There could be a 'tad' bit of bias in the study."
There is always the possibility of a bias built into the protocol of an experiment, but it is more often unintentional. Or, if you are saying it is built into the hypothesis from the start, then that is irrelevant. *Any* hypothesis is valid, if you design an experiment to prove or disprove it, fairly.
We have many government programs aimed at children raised in poverty. This study points out how you might change your thinking a bit and get more bang for your buck. That's all that the quoted sentence said.
"They also don't mention nutritional needs and, how many of the 17 year olds with short term memory loss smoked pot?"
Since the study related biochemical stress to performance [details on exactly how they did this study are hard to come by in this piece], then higher marijuana use would result in less stress and in a weaker or even reversed correlation for their study [*if* you can first make the correlation that poor kids smoke more than less poor kids. I think your bias may be showing here.]. This is because, as scientists and stoners have found, weed makes you mellow. As in, for instance:
However, in contrast to these findings, no change in the diurnal rhythm of cortisol secretion was observed during THC ingestion in chronic smokers.57 Marijuana may also impair cortisol response to a stressful stimulus.
