No one knows if Obama's plans will work, or even if any plan will work at this stage of the game. There are even some things in that monograph I disagree with, like his energy solutions. But on the whole, what I see is a keen mind that has evaluated the problem in a way that I can pretty much agree with. That alone gives me confidence. Second, I see an actual plan that has been thought out carefully and deliberately; again, whether it actually works or not only time will tell, but at least I see a plan, not faith. Third, I see the ability to communicate these concepts in a clear and persuasive manner, essential to not only aquire the needed cooperation and support, but to demonstrate that there is an actual logic driving the program being put in place here, not just spasmodic responses to stimuli.
Not only is this a refreshing change from the past, but I see no other alternatives being proposed that make any sense. Yeah, I'm scared and I don't know if he can pull this off. I can't even convince myself that he, and I, aren't both dead wrong. And I am particularly uncomfortable with turning over my future to a stranger, any stranger, I don't fully know. But right now, given what I do know, I don't think America could have made a better choice.
