"When you come to a fork in the road, take it." -- Yogi Berra

There's a certain amount of truth in what you said, but no one, even Libertarians, seems to have any concrete proposals on how to change things, at least not in a democracy. Politicians will be politicians, and even the most brilliant, enlightened, and scrupulously honest ones still have to work with others to get things done while pleasing the public at the same time.

You can't legislate or decree a true freemarket/libertarian/Randian system any more than you can do so a socialist worker's paradise/Marxist-Leninist one. And by the way, the previous sentence does not imply I believe either of those states is even achievable in principle, much less in practice. I don't even mean to imply they are opposite poles of some hypothetical philosophical spectrum.

Political and economic ideologies describe directions, not locations.
