The definitive experiment is never done, was never done, and will never be done by the Cold Fusion advocates for the simple reason that they know that the results will be negative. Instead, they perform other (sloppy) experiments and then fudge the results to make it seem like heat is being generated. The sealed isothermal calorimeter is beyond their ken.

The reality is that these Cold Fusion advocates are either idiots who don't know how to run an experiment properly or scoundrels who are trying to find investors to bilk for funding of research into the non-phenomenon of "Cold Fusion". Given some equally worthless research done by SRI in the matter of Uri Geller, it is hard to say which.

Ostwald, a great chemist, made similar comments about another (not so great) chemist who always found heat being given off in chemical reactions despite the obvious fact that some reactions clearly absorb heat.
