Good advice, Eri! We may try that too. Our Shih Tzu is normally the quietest little thing until either someone she doesn't know is in the yard, or the cat's in her way.
Personally the barking doesn't bother me, but I don't like seeing her get stressed out. If I'm home I'll lay on the floor with her and rub her tummy til she falls asleep.
