Had we just gotten bin Laden, all the Taliban, al Qaeda, and anti-Western Pashtuns in both Afghanistan and Pakistan would have crumbled into dust.
Many liberals harbor some fabulous notion in the back of their heads that if someone (President Gore for example) had just "done it right," the entire Afghanistan War would have been over in a few weeks, all the terrorists would have gone away, Saddam would have taken up knitting, and we'd all be crapping rainbows now.
I know what was involved in getting men and materials into Afghanistan in the early weeks of the war. There was no "road to Baghdad" from someplace like Kuwait. No supply lines. No way to get in other than air.
