re: In the real world

You mean slap her around, chase her around the penthouse, corner her, retrieve the keys while she's clawing at my flesh screaming - and leave her begging for more? While making sure that the cinematographer films all of it from 150 different angles in shots that last no more than 2 seconds apiece and put it to a high tempo musical score?

Nah, not my style - Literary, cinematic or real life. Leave that type of action for the new Bond.

My ideal Bond is a gentleman who can walk away from a expensive car, or a psychotic she-witch, or both with a smile and perhaps a one-liner. Something like this:

Bond left the penthouse, exited the elevator and emerged on the street below. He passed the platinum metallic Lamborghini parked on the street, sandwiched between a new Mercedes and a catering truck.

"I never particularly cared for that car anyways...too much dirt collected on the tires."

He pauses opens his cell phone hits "Q" on the speed dial.

"Q, Bond here, I'm going to need some transportation... Oh, Nothing really, it's been traded for services rendered. Yes, I understand that they don't grow on trees. Yes, I realize I have a poor track record when it comes to returning property to Q branch. About twenty minutes? Oh...and thank you Q, you haven't let me down yet."

Bond flip closes the phone and stuffs it into his Armani jacket. He sits on a bus bench, cutting a rather unique image this earlyt in the morning.

A stunning silver-blue Pagani Zonda pulls up to the corner in 19 minutes and 35 seconds. Q emerges wearing an uncustomary driving jacket and carrying a briefcase. He hands the keys to Bond.

"Take care of this one, will you Bond?"

"I promise to be as careful as I can be."

"That's what concerns me."

;-)

Now that's cool. One has to remember, Bond can get a replacement car as easy as some folks can go to the market and buy a roll of paper towels.
