Remember Bush's "mandate"? How that was played? The political capital he claimed, then squandered as he did all manner of capital? Do you remember how the Republicans played that card? And how you bragged about it?

Which is the Party of no compromise, no negotiation, and enforces ideological purity? Which Party regards compromise as weakness, negotiation as impending weakness and the lack of purity as a sin? And where has that gotten us?

Which Party has the Limbaugh Litmus Test, wherein all must pass muster in front of Rush Limbaugh or be hounded out? And the results of that?

Now that we've answered those questions, tell me how Obama could possibly work with that Party on any issue, let alone a Supreme Court Justice.

And it's going to take someone so far left they aren't on the horizon to balance Scalia and Thomas. And

Obama should follow the lead of the electorate and ignore Conservatives. Pat 'em on the head, scratch an ear or two, tell them they're important, and ignore them. It's poor form for the tail to wag the dog.
