Pretty smart guys.
Smart, and good, too. The culture lionized these people and the world they lived in, and their critics were disparaged and ridiculed. The whole financial ethos took a hold of the culture, they seduced our best minds and infiltrated our institutions. And those who questioned them were seen as Cassandras, and old-fashioned, even obstructionists. It really wasn't political as much as it was cultural.
