The Discovery flight of november 1984 was extremely exciting...Allen and Gardner recovered 2 ailing satellites (launched from Challenger months earlier)....they were slightly fixed and returned to space with chinese rockets and cost a fraction of what they were...But the Shuttle flight itself was extremely costly....Perhaps not servicing anymore is a sign of what space is about and we don't accept it.
It is indeed far cheaper to build a replacement satellite!
