If that's done I'd like to propose one requirement.
That the marked prices, the advertised prices and the posted prices include the tax. My state doesn't have a sales tax, and it's a pain in the ass to go with $2 to buy something for $1.99 and have it come to $2.08. Let us know what we're going to pay.
A VAT, by the way, would be the perfect ending to Bush's agenda. Spend the country broke, fight wars on borrowed money, cut taxes on the wealthy, and institute a regressive tax so as to have the poorer people paying for his wars.
And meanwhile the rich get richer and the poor get poorer and the country struggles along. For a while.
