The LIGO Fiasco
Remember all the glowing articles about how early this decade the billion dollar LIGO was gonna detect gravity waves? Well the entire LIGO instrument has turned out to be a complete failure so far, greatly eclipsing the HST fiasco of the early 90s. The cited website is somewhat of a whack job (IMO) and several of the statements are inaccurate as noted by the scientist's rebuttal in the comments, but the salient fact remains that LIGO instrumental observations have been an utter disaster. Billions of taxpayer dollars wasted, but silly me, we're into Trillions these days.
