In this day and age, there are very few news stories where I don't have almost as much access to the raw information as the reporters do, with the possible exception of those actually on the scene. Even then, as we saw with Katrina, "eyewitness" news can be as misleading as any other kind.
An astounding amount of our news coverage is "reporters" copying what others have written.
