A bit off-topic, perhaps, but
it is curious how recent politics have made strange bedfellows. The fundamentalist right, particularly it's more virulent Southern strains, has always exhibited an antipathy to Jews and Catholics. However, with the major role Israel is expected to play in the upcoming End Times, and the Catholic opposition to abortion, these prevously disparaged groups have become part of rural Protestant America's ideological allies. Well, a reluctant part, at any rate.
