Late term abortions are rare and severely restricted by law.

Second term abortions occur for medical reasons. Lack of adequate medical care is one medical reason for not knowing about a pregnancy or not knowing the gestational age of the fetus. Care to tackle that one?

The fear factor has a lot to do with the extremists out there who intend to persecute unwillingly pregnant women, and who condemn sexual activity that is outside their definition of moral. (These would be the abstinence-only people.) Shut them up, or undercut their platform, and there will be a lot more conversation.

Prove to me that a fetus has a living, working cerebrum -- or has a cerebrum that is capable of working -- and I'll defend it. Don't come to me with the "soul" argument. "God" can handle that.
