Considering what gets counted as "hate crimes", and what gets left out, it's no surprise.
Just as racism by non-Whites is ignored (and often said to not even exist) by the Left, so are the motivations for crimes committed by them. Even the likes of Jeremiah Wright and Sonia Sotomayor aren't called racist, instead they're called "controversial".
