It's rapidly getting to the point

where the leftists, centrists, and progressives in this nation are going to figure out they can't bring a knife to a gun fight and I'd hate to be on the other side when that occurs.

Those last "core" neo-cons are in that dangerous phase where they see that only complete disruption of society can bring them back into power and they're trying to stir up that "God and gun bunch" to go out and kill.

What these idiots don't understand though is that men of all political persuasions only play pacifist for so long and, if they succeed in stirring the pot sufficiently, we could easily see people taking the law into their own hands and snuffing out some of these folks and those enabling them preemptively. (The irony is complete that the same bunch that would be targeted are exactly the same folks that supported preemptive war on terrorism.)

Let me make it perfectly clear that I am in no way looking forward to this or advocating that action. There is ample historical precedence though that it is inevitable if the carnage reaches a tipping point especially in a country with so many weapons. What's painful about this though is that it never solves anything.

There is a way out however and that's if the conservatives that are now somewhere out in the ether, the ones disenfranchised from their party, were to march back in and retake the power and cast the evil ones out of the temple. This house-cleaning needs to be done from within. It will eventually happen if we just allow things to progress at a natural speed but that may not be soon enough to avert a mini civil war.
