When I was a kid,

there was a family legend (which I actually believed!) that Dale Evans had died and Roy Rogers married her twin sister so he wouldn't have to break up the act.

Much later, when I heard about Trigger being stuffed, I refused to believe it for years because I didn't want to get fooled again. I haven't fully trusted grown-ups since.
