If I was a Christian...
...then prayer would not be about the object or desired results of the prayer. It would be instead about my attitude toward and my relationship with the One to whom I prayed.
The Jesus freaks used to call it: "getting your heart right with God". Or as Kierkegaard put it: "The function of prayer is not to influence God, but rather to change the nature of the one who prays."
