re: Sometimes Bowser...just sometimes...

Well, I couldn't understand the lyrics the woman was singing, though I think I caught the word "reason".

Otherwise, I believe sometimes people, including myself, have to grieve, have to experience the pain, have to face a loss. When I've been in the middle of that I take it that people mean I have their best wishes when they say they'll pray for me. And that is greatly appreciated, I promise. And often it is a mistake to come in from the cold too soon, to quit hurting before the pain has revealed it's secrets.

What I'm wondering is what the role of God may be in that process for those who pray to the Judeo-Christian God, or one of the Christian saints. I'm not denying there is a value, I'm wondering what it is people are expecting. Some schools pray to win a football game, some people to "win" a war. Does prayer influence God to intercede one way or the other?

Alcaray's answer above is superb.
