I just watched the pilot for what is apparently going to be a new science fiction series on Fox, "Virtuality". It was terrific! They spent a lot of money on this, and they got the science right, for a change. It also boasts a cast of a dozen attractive and competent unknowns (only one familiar face, I've seen him on a Brit Miss Marple mystery).
The script is intelligent, the performances superb, and the plot intriguing (although still not yet clear, this is, after all, a pilot). There's some good social commentary (but subtle and understated), and a there's a very philosophical and psychological slant to the whole affair as well. I haven't seen anything this good on TV since "Rome", and I salute Fox for going with it. Whether they can keep up the quality as a series remains to be seen, but I'll be looking forward to finding out. Highly recommended, but you better try and watch a re-run of the pilot or you will be completely lost.
