I will assume they do at the moment. The question becomes, will they want us to leave when the number of troops do not have the appearance of an occupation force and are a measurable part of the economy?

I think this is the answer in Europe. With the religious and cultural differences in iraq it may never be the same, but the Europeans do not want us to leave any more than we want a Japanese factory to leave the U.S. Our presence in Europe has economic impact on a segment of the population and is not considered invasive.

It would suit me fine to be out of Europe but it would probably be a diplomatic blunder.
