Space/Science » in reply to University academics insinuate; they do not come out bluntly assert.

Furthermore.

I'll try to post this, probably with a lot of typos.

Whatever most academics and professors today think
and teach, Galileo is NOT like most of them today.

Galileo was a scientist, certainly, but the confrontation he had with the Vatican was NOT a conflict between antichristian science and
Christian faith. His trial was more political than religious, since
the Vatican felt threatened by his maverick attitude and actions
that flew in the face of the Vatican's political-religious power
at the time.
I'm ignoring the controversy whether the Catholic religion is a
Christian faith or a hybrid of pagan and Christian beliefs, the topic which
is out of bounds for the Space Topic page here.

Today most academics and professors are atheists, yes,
but not 400 years ago.
Academics today cannot paint Galileo as being "one of them".
He was a scientist, a good one, but he was also an independent Christian thinker.
