I've always wondered about those connections (for cellphones, lately) through the cigarette lighter to get to the current. Cigarette lighters heat by causing all kinds of resistance to the current. Seems to me you would not want go through a resistor to get to the current. Does that mean that these connectors (and the female end in the lighter) bypass the heating element, somehow?
