re: competition

The most liberal members wanted a total government run medical system. Instead what we have offered is a public insurance option which will compete with the private ones. Yeah I know, it's the first step in a government power grab yada yada... bullshit.

I've already detailed how the proponents are going to sabotage the private alternatives. Here's yet one more article on some of the details.

Of course it's a power grab. State health care gives the government an enormous amount of power over the American citizen. Not to mention funneling the billions spent on health care away from the private sector and into the hands of politicians. With that at stake, whether or not decent health care is ever actually delivered is pretty low on the priority scale.

And once again, it won't save money. The CBO stood up Friday and said it would probably end up costing MORE than the status quo.

If you want a project to kill some time, find a major Federal government program where "predicted savings" or low future cost estimates ever panned out. Ever.
