A partial eclipse is interesting.

But people who've seen totality say it is several orders of magnitude beyond that. Like the Grand Canyon, no amount of preparation or study can prepare you for the actual experience. You won't be that far away in NC, I suggest you drive a few extra hours and see the full Monty. It may be your last chance.

I'll be turning 70 a week later, and even though I realize there's a good chance I may be clouded out, I will never forgive myself if I don't at least try.
