Same here, Phil!
I was eleven and all I could think of was my grandfather who held star parties in the twenties in Matansas and was thought of as a lunatic for thinking (fore-thinking) that man would one day walk on the moon.
I thought of him when 'man DID walk on the moon on this day in '69 and will always think of him of him fondly that way.
I know, to be fortunate enough to have witnessesed that during such a turmoilic time on Earth was lucky enough.
Never again in my/our lifetimes... or maybe? Mars is waiting, it always has been waiting as well as other geological bodies in our solar system.
Then there's Andromeda(e), but that's another story.
:)
Anyways... Happy Anniversary Apollo!
Thanks to all that made that remarkable journey possible.
