History is basically a record of events. Historical perspective gives more depth to the topic. A couple of definitions of Perspective: #

1. a specific point of view in understanding or judging things or events, esp. one that shows them in their true relations to one another
2. the ability to see things in a true relationship

So, we're not discussing history but historical perspective.

Personally, I see a conspiracy behind every tree. Whatever goes on in this world that is important enough to pay attention to is going to be because of someone's desire for power or wealth or both (they ARE basically inseparable).

You would probably have nightmares if you knew all the machinations behind the headlines.
