And 400 years ago today, an astronmy milestone.
400 years ago, today, Thomas Harriot, an English scientist
turned a 4-6 power telescope on the Moon and started to map it,
4 months before Galileo.
This is the first documented case of someone turning
a telescope towards the Moon and mapping it.
Thomas Harriot did a good job mapping the Moon.
He was also the first to use a telescope to image sunspots
before Galileo.
But I suspect some Arab intellects turned undocumented telescopes toward the Moon 1000 years ago.
