The planet is so close to it's star that it is tidally-locked. The scale of the tides is 140km between in-line to the star and cross-line, and the authors calculate that tidal locking would have occurred in days to years, for a system with an age of 1.5 to 2 Ga!
The star would be a 28 degree diameter disc in the permanent daytime sky! The hot side would be ~2600K and the cold side ~50K, in the absence of an atmosphere or oceans to distribute the heat. If there is a thick atmosphere, like Venus, the temperature would be averaged to ~1800K
The planet is at about 1.8 times the Roche limit, and is spiralling-in to the star with its doom estimated in as short as 70ma or as long as 2Ga from now
