Space/Science » in reply to LHC Continues to Struggle

I wonder how the SSC might have fared

SSC, the Superconducting Super Collider of the 1990s which got halted
in its tracks by the US Government because they couldn't understand
the science and didn't want to spend the money on it. Plus it probably
didn't cover enough districts to please all the congressmen.

I wonder if the SSC would have encountered similar technical problems
being so darn big and complex? Of course we would have had nearly
two decades to work out the bugs by now and might have made some
vital discoveries about existence if the thing had been completed.

CERN has come so far with the LHC, let's give it the support and chance
that it needs to suceed.
