Space/Science » in reply to How much does it cost to land a pound on the Moon?

In terms of Delta V

Which is how we always used to do the calculations, from Earth surface to LEO, then transfer to lunar orbit, then land, uses something over 50,000 fps. If you want to bring it back home, using aerobraking at Earth, you can add about 9,500 fps.

The calculation gets complicated because the payload varies at every step.
