Jesus had some problems.

For one, he should have known well enough to leave the existing masses at their status quo. Everything he tried to teach was turned upside down as a result.

You try and ween people off religion, you try to get people to stop going to temples and listen within, you try to weaken the Pharisees and what do you get for all your efforts?

You get a lot of angry Jews, politicians and the reputation as a threat. After you die they distort your message and create one of the largest organized cults in history.

Trying to wake others up requires total understanding. It's not enough to know a better way, it requires the understanding that each person is at the perfect place for learning right where they are. The proof is in the pudding. Had the peoples of that time period been capable of grasping what he was telling them, he would have had many more than a few disciples and he would have captured the hearts of the masses.

His problem was, no one liked what he was selling. Personal responsibility? Chastity of mind and action? Anti-materialism? My goodness...it would be like someone today telling kids not to watch youtube, set up sites on myspace and facebook or play computer games and to wait for love and marriage before having sex and babies.

His message was, and always will be, the most unpopular sort.

There are lots of folks, like Jesus, who know more than the common denominator of their time-frame. How successful they are in having a positive influence on the masses and the future depend upon how well they can integrate advanced thinking, ideas and even technologies into the existing societal structures. By that definition Jesus was a failure. Buddha, Akhenaton, Hatshepsut, Socrates, Anaxagoras, Benjamin Franklin and others more successfully integrated their knowledge into their surroundings.

But throw a bit more understanding at Jesus himself and one recognizes HE needed to do what he did, for his own edification and learning curve. You learn not to upset the money lenders tables and not to bias the ignorance around you - for it is only ignorance from a certain perspective. From another perspective the money lenders actions and deeds were sheer genius, and necessary for their own personal mental evolution.

It's tough. His Essenic beliefs were tasked to beyond their limits as he encountered the masses in the cities and he felt the need to proselytize.

Jesus would have likely learned his lesson and when he would return he would be far more passive, permitting his message to reach those who are ready for it. That way he would be able to slowly change society from within and not attempt to remold it in a few months or years time.

Passive resistance is always the strongest kind.
