Plato, Socrates, and Society

Jefferson-Washington said:

"Technology is not always the fruit of intelligence.
Socrates and Plato were more intelligent persons than any one of us
dare claim for ourselves, yet they did not depend on ADVANCED technology to express their intellligence fruitfully."

But they did rely on the civilization and its rudimentary technology to
allow them to live their relatively luxurious lives and have the time to
spend it contemplating deep thoughts.

Without that relatively sophisticated structure, I think they would be
spending most of their time surviving like the rest of their species. And
without a means or method to record what they did and preserver it
through the ages with increasingly more sophisticated societies, we
probably never would have heard of them - Socrates especially, as he
apparently never wrote down his thoughts.

So there may be beings on alien planets who are Tao masters, but I bet
they too need some kind of support from their society to be this way.

There's a question: Could a singular being ever achieve a high level of
awareness and knowledge without the support of his species in a group
situation?
