I do not measure "human compassion and political decency" by a socialist's willingness to spend somebody else's money. You think because Churchill approved of this idea that it makes it any more sound? It's not like this is news to anyone who's studied that man. One might have an excuse for being dazzled by collectivist economics almost a century ago. Modern people have much less excuse for ignorance.

Of course the NHS doesn't have enough money. It will never have enough money. Ever. The constant wail of every government program is that it would work miracles instead of creating disasters if we just put more money into it. America's own government medical programs are going broke as well.

As another example, our education system sounds like a broken record in its constant calls for higher funding. This despite the fact that we're spending three times the amount per student in constant dollars than we were forty years ago, and our primitive, benighted education system had created the greatest technological society on the planet.
