As far as I am concerned, private insurance companies can all go to hell.
I feel that for-profit insurance has an intrinsic conflict of interest. Insurance companies themselves decide whether to pay or not pay claims. This is like going into a store, paying for an item, and then having the store decide whether or not to give you the item. It is always more profitable to deny a claim than to pay it.
For-profit insurance companies should be replaced by mutual insurance companies. Since these are owned by the policy-holders, the conflict of interest vanishes. Policy-holders damned well want to be paid when they make claims.
