The Philosophies of the Multiverse

The concept of the multiverse, that there exist many, perhaps an infinite number of universes
besides our own.

Are they real? Are they an excuse by some cosmologists who are having trouble figuring out
certain pesky mysteries of physics? Would a multiverse make God or a bunch of gods irrelevant?
Or do an infinitity of realities make deities very relevant?

Read here for some views from representatives of various fronts on the subject:

http://www.searchmagazine.org/July-August%202009/full-multiverse.html

I put this here because, while a good number of real physicists are interviewed for this article,
the subject and others who were interviewed for this piece are just esoteric enough to place
it in Off Topic and save any bother of being moved.

I hope a diversity of HZ members will check this out and comment on it, in the spirit of this
very interesting article. It's funny how in some ways, just like with the idea of alien life, we
still sound like philosophers and scientists did centuries ago.
