Flame » in reply to MSNBC edits black gun-carrying man into "white racist."

The distortion is yours. In the interest of honest discourse, let's look at it.

While the video did show a black guy with an assault rifle and handgun, it ALSO showed a white guy with a handgun on his hip.

The commentator said there were about 12 people with weapons, and she said there were white people with guns strapped to their waist or legs. And then they discussed the possibility of a racist attack upon our African American president.

This is another in the Big Lies, the media conspiracy, which is real, very real, in the minds of some people. I won't say "Conservatives", because that's become a dirty word, but those people who are afraid to not carry a gun tend to be Republican and racist. These people can wrap their heads around the idea that Bush didn't lie and the US didn't torture, too. Very flexible minds.

I realize it is an effort to be honest, it's not as dramatic, and doesn't fit all the conspiracies some Republicans see floating around.

(And, I'd posit that one can be African-American and be racist. Clarence Thomas is black, and he seems to discriminate against those classes which are predominately black in favor of large economic interests. That isn't racist, per se, but is close.)
